McKown/Juniper Point News
Ann and Carey Swope have had a full house this summer. Daughter Kate with her two boys, Chris (6-1/2) and Kai (2-1/2), spent five glorious weeks here in late June through July.
Chris throughly enjoyed Sea and Science camp in East Boothbay for four weeks, then for their last week he relaxed, swam, kyacked mornings and afternoons he loved tennis lessons with Dave with his best buddy, Ethan Helming.
Six years old might be the perfect age to fall in love with Boothbay. So many pictures of him on the beach look just like photos of his mom, Kate, and his grandpa, Carey, at that age, clothing styles not withstanding. He fell into bed every night, asleep before the bedtime story was finished. Actually, we all did.
Kai, at 2-1/2, walked “the loop” every morning with grandma and Emmet (M dog to him) If you ever feel disheartened by the state of the world, take a walk with a two year old, jump in every puddle, climb every rock, pick up every stick and gaze in wonder at the beautiful deer we watched one morning on Massachusetts Road.
Kate’s wife, Alison, was able to join us on her days off, driving up from Scituate, MA to the delight of the kids and adults alike.
Wednesday evenings Trina and Dave Morrison hosted “the old gang” with all their kids on their front porch for fun and games. In attendance: Kate (Swope) and Alison, Christina (Edwards) and Aaron, Vanesa (Lipschitz) and Matt, Devon (Crawford), Laura ((Stevenson) and Dan, Tobey (Robinson), and Laurent and kids.
After a few days to regroup, our youngest daughter arrived with her husband, escaping the heat and humidity for a few weeks. Niece Jessy, her husband, Justin and Augie the dog arrived this weekend past and we so enjoyed boating, seal watching, swimming, cooking, relaxing, laughing.
We feel so grateful to have this beautiful place and community to relax, recharge and spend precious moments with family and friends.
