Maine Green Schools Network to host 3 regional gatherings this fall
The Maine Department of Education (DOE) and the Maine Environmental Education Association (MEEA) will host the first of three regional gatherings at the Wells Conference Center at the University of Maine Orono campus on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The gathering will bring together Maine students, educators, and school leaders for a day of resource-sharing and interactive workshops designed to help participants crowdsource project ideas, learn from one another, and develop sustainability action plans for their schools.
The gatherings are part of the Maine Green Schools Network, a state-led initiative working to advance sustainability, resiliency, and youth leadership across Maine schools. At each event, participants will have opportunities to learn from regional case studies, connect with peers from other schools, and engage in youth-led sessions.
The gathering on Oct. 28 will be followed by two additional gatherings in Falmouth and Boothbay in November.
WHO: Middle and high school students, teachers, administrators, facilities managers, superintendents, community-based organizations, and other partners, along with representatives from the Maine Department of Education (DOE) and the Maine Environmental Education Association (MEEA).
