Maine to celebrate impact of adult education at the Hall of Flags April 2
On Thursday, April 2, from 8 a.m. to noon, the Maine Department of Education (DOE), in collaboration with the Maine Adult Education Association, will host an event at the Hall of Flags in the State House to showcase the broad impact of adult education programming across the state.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, approximately 12,400 adults participated in adult basic education, high school completion, college preparation, and workforce training programming through the 65 adult education programs available in Maine. More than 3,000 workforce certifications were awarded to adult education students in high-demand fields, such as healthcare, manufacturing, and commercial driving, representing a 15-percent increase over the previous year.
The Hall of Flags event will feature highlights from Maine’s adult education programs, including stories from adult education students who developed the essential foundational and occupational skills necessary to advance their careers and realize their full potential as workers, family members, and citizens of the state.
