Madison girls blank Lady Seahawks in tennis action

The Madison Lady Bulldogs proved a tough match-up May 8 for the Boothbay Lady Seahawks. Madison won all five matches in the Class C South tennis match-up. BILL PEARSON/Boothbay RegisterBoothbay's Abby Orchard started strong in her Class C Girls' South tennis match versus Amara Buja May 4 in winning the opening set, 6-4. But Buja's game improved as she took sets two and three, 6-0, 6-0. Orchard was the only Lady Seahawk to win a set versus Madison, as the Bulldogs won all five matches.
In singles, Hannah Kreft lost in first singles to Madison's Jade Young, 6-0, 6-0. In second singles, Izzy Andreason lost to Julie Stolinova, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, Madison won both matches. The Bulldog team of Mikalee Johnston and Kierra Plummer beat Addie Barter and Maddie Andreason, 6-2, 6-3. In second doubles, Sarah Harris and Maya Jacobs were defeated by Madison's Audrey Dillingham and Sara Burn, 6-1, 6-1.
Boothbay is now 3-3 and ranked seventh in the Class C South standings.
The Lady Seahawks travel to Winthrop Monday, May 11 to play the No. 8 Ramblers in girls' Class C South tennis action.
