BRGC congratulates local scholarship awardee on graduation
The Garden Club is pleased to congratulate Della Hahn, BRHS Class of 2022, recent graduate of Sewanee – The University of the South. She has earned a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources from the Department of Earth and Environmental Systems, and a Minor in Business on the environment and sustainability track. Della plans to work in the renewable energy sector upon graduating.
While at Sewanee, Della became a sister of Kappa Delta and was elected to be the House Manager her senior year. She is a member of the Order of the Gown and Sewanee's Earth Science National Honor Society. She was also able to study environmental studies and art history in Florence, Italy for the 2025 spring semester.
Della said this about the Garden Club scholarship program: “By awarding me your scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school: learning. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to my community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me!”
The Boothbay Region Garden Club supports horticulture based education and, at any one time, provides four-year college scholarships to two or three local students who have graduated from Boothbay Region High School, or similar local curricula, and who share the interests and objectives of our club. The Garden Club initiated the scholarship program in 1975 and has provided many scholarships to local students over the past 50+ years. These students are the leaders of tomorrow and will be guiding efforts to ensure the preservation of our natural resources.
These scholarships are made possible by the Garden Club’s local fundraising events and activities including the popular “Sea Around Us” Home and Garden Tour and our annual Holiday Festival and Winter Market.
Our next fundraising event is the inaugural “Tea by the Sea and Summer Home and Garden Market” which will take place on Friday, June 19 at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club. Tickets are available on our website at https://boothbayregiongardenclub.org/.
