Cult classic ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ at Lincoln Theater
Event Date
Friday, May 15, 2026 - 07:30 pmLincoln County Community Theater (LCCT), resident theater company at Damariscotta’s historic Lincoln Theater, is set to delight audiences the weekend of May 15-17, with its live stage production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” a darkly comedic musical that has captivated theatergoers for decades. With music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, the celebrated duo behind Disney hits like “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Aladdin;” “Little Shop of Horrors” blends rock, doo-wop, and Motown-inspired sounds into a wildly entertaining theatrical experience.
Directed by John Mulcahy and choreographed by Niall Lessard, this production brings together a vibrant cast of local talent. Featured performers include Andy Barber, Emily Sue Barker, Ron Capps, Kelly Caufield, Josh Felter, Molly Frantzen, Eliana Goldberg, Derek Kingsley, Niall Lessard, and Matt Peters. They are joined by an energetic ensemble group of “Skid Rowers” alongside a live orchestra dubbed “The Trash Cans,” made up of local professional musicians.
The story follows Seymour Krelborn, a shy and struggling floral assistant who discovers a mysterious plant he names Audrey II, after his coworker and secret crush. But this is no ordinary houseplant. With a taste for blood and a knack for singing rhythm and blues, Audrey II offers Seymour a chance at fame and fortune….at a chilling cost. As the plant grows, so do its demands, leading to increasingly dangerous consequences and a looming threat far beyond Skid Row.
A sci-fi smash that has enjoyed enduring popularity on both Broadway and the big screen, “Little Shop of Horrors” is known for its catchy score, offbeat humor, and campy thrills. LCCT’s production honors the show’s cult-classic roots while showcasing the creativity and dedication of Midcoast Maine’s theater community.
“Little Shop of Horrors” offers a wickedly fun night at the theater. Just don’t forget to feed the plant!
