Lincoln Day brunch and biennial municipal caucuses Feb. 21
The Lincoln County Republican Committee will hold its annual Lincoln Day Brunch on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boothbay American Legion Post 36, located at 25 Industrial Park Road, Boothbay.
The Lincoln Day event is a long-standing Republican tradition honoring Abraham Lincoln, the first elected president of the Republican Party. The program will include a buffet brunch, a silent auction, and remarks from declared and potential candidates seeking public office.
Scheduled speakers include:
Kristine Poland - House District 46, representing Bristol, Damariscotta, Monhegan Plantation, Newcastle, Nobleboro
Chet Grover - House District 47, representing Alna, Jefferson, Whitefield, Wiscasset
Win Mitchell, Senate District 13, including Alna, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Edgecomb, Jefferson, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Somerville, South Bristol, Southport, Waldoboro, Westport Island, Whitefield, and Wiscasset, plus Windsor and Washington
Jonathan Bush, Bobby Charles and David Jones – Candidates for governor
Immediately following the Lincoln Day program, the Committee will conduct the biennial Republican municipal caucuses for the following communities:
Alna, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Dresden, Edgecomb, Jefferson, Newcastle, Nobleboro, South Bristol, Somerville, Southport, Westport Island, Wiscasset, and Whitefield.
Under Maine law, political parties hold municipal caucuses every two years. At the caucus, registered Republicans in each town elect delegates to the state party convention, select county committee members, and conduct required party business. All registered Republicans in the listed municipalities are eligible to attend and participate.
Unenrolled voters and new municipal voters may register to vote or enroll as Republicans prior to the start of the caucus.
