Lincoln County Sheriff's Office: 2 arrests
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 303 calls for service for the period of Oct. 28 to Nov. 4. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 12,434 calls for service.
Summonses
A 16-year-old male juvenile from Whitefield was issued a summons Oct. 28 for Assault, at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, by Deputy Mark Fortin.
Joshua D. Benner, 30, of Waldoboro was issued a summons Nov. 2 for Operating while License is Suspended or Revoked – Priors, on Upper East Pond Road, Nobleboro, by Deputy Brandon Maciuba.
Arrests
Sheldon Lavway, 27, of Union was arrested Oct. 28 on two warrants, one out of Kennebec County and one out of Knox County, for Failure to Appear on Possession of Scheduled Drug charges, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.
John W. Vinal, 64, of Nobleboro was arrested Oct. 28 on an Idaho warrant for the charge of Enticement of Minor for Indecent Purposes, Via Telecommunications and a Fugitive from Justice charge, on Winslow Hill Road, Nobleboro, by Deputy Jerold Winslow, who was assisted by Sgt. Matthew Day.
Accidents
On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on Alna Road in Alna involving John W. Williams, 65, of Cushing. Mr. Williams was operating his 2013 Subaru Impreza southbound when a vehicle traveling northbound in the opposite lane swerved into the southbound lane, causing him to swerve right to avoid this vehicle. As a result, Williams lost control of his vehicle due to over-correcting, crossed the center line and went off the left side of the roadway. Deputy Nathan Yeaton was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 28, an accident occurred on Indian Road in Dresden involving Isabella Nguyen, 18, of Woolwich and Amanda L. Collins, 31, of Bath. Ms. Nguyen was stopped on Indian Road, at the stop sign, at the intersection of Middle Road, in her 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, heading southbound. Nguyen did not yield the right of way to Ms. Collins, who was operating her 2020 Nissan Rogue westbound on Indian Road. As a result, Collins collided with Nguyen’s vehicle in the center passenger side, causing it to roll over off the road. Ms. Collins’ vehicle then burst into flames. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 29, an accident occurred on US Route 1 in Newcastle involving Andrew D. Mikoski, 38, of Waldoboro. Mr. Mikoski was operating his 2009 Subaru Forester northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and struck his vehicle, then exited off the left side of the road. Deputy Nathan Yeaton was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 29, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Ashton S. Francis, 17, of Washington. Mr. Francis was operating his 2012 Toyota Prius northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the east side and stuck his vehicle. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 31, an accident occurred on Center Street in Nobleboro involving Wade M. Birrell, 58, of Damariscotta. Mr. Birrell was operating his 2011 Honda CR-V southbound when he struck a deer that had entered the roadway. Deputy Ethan Burns was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 31, an accident occurred on Cross Road in Alna involving Shaun N. Fairfield, 45, of Alna. Mr. Fairfield was operating his 2017 Dodge Ram westbound, approaching the intersection with Route 218, when he crossed the center line, went off the roadway on the left and into a ditch before striking several trees. Sgt. Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
