Saturday, June 13, 2026 - 07:30 pmThe Waldo Theatre has announced it is partnering with Veggies to Table, a non-profit farm in Newcastle that donates all of the produce and flowers they grow to local people experiencing hunger and needing joy, for the upcoming community theatre production of the hilarious British farce, "Don’t Dress for Dinner."
100% of the proceeds from raffles and silent auction of merchandise, specialty foods, and unique experiences donated by local merchants at each of the show’s four performances will benefit Veggies to Table.
“This really funny and fast-paced show is about a chic dinner party that goes off the rails,” said Laura Morris, the show’s director. “We thought it would be a perfect occasion to remind folks that hunger remains a real challenge for many of our neighbors on the Midcoast. We’re hoping the community will come together for this event to share a laugh, build awareness, and raise some badly needed funds to combat hunger.”
“Local hunger is on the rise and the support of the Waldo Theatre and our community allow Veggies to Table to keep doing our vital work feeding our friends and neighbors living in the crisis of food insecurity,” said Erica Berman, Veggies to Table executive director and co-founder. “And the flowers we donate create so much joy."
In the play three couples—spouses, best friends, secret lovers, and uninvited guests—begin to collide just as a romantic weekend begins. In the grand tradition of the British farce they twist truths, confuse alibis, and swap identities. A hilarious and sometimes naughty confusion ensues with characters improvising at breakneck speed while the evening slowly goes off the rails and secrets are revealed.
“At The Waldo, we exist to serve our community,” said Jeff Wiseman, the Waldo’s executive director. “Our partnerships with organizations like Veggies to Table help us extend our reach and community contributions beyond the doors of this theatre.”
"Don’t Dress for Dinner" evening performances are scheduled for June 13, 19 and 20, at 7:30 with a Sunday matinee on June 14 at 2 p.m. Advance online tickets are just $20. Same day tickets (if available) are $25. Tickets at thewaldotheatre.org. The theatre is located at 916 Main St., Waldoboro.
Due to some of the mature themes, this show is not recommended for pre-teens.
