A night of Florida swamp music, gospel and blues

Yes. It started snowing during the concert by Walter Parks with Ada Dyer and drummer Steven Williams. For the 35-40 live music fans at the Feb. 20 performance it was a night to remember. Dyer's voice touched souls whether she was singing a gospel tune, rocking it out, or singing back up on a Richie Havens song. Parks played original tunes he described as Florida Swamp music (a melding of southern rock, blues and funk), and a few by his friend Richie Havens (who he toured with for 10 years in the early 2000s), on Havens' 1967 guitar, a Guild D-40 flattop. While touring over the next few years, Parks will be filming gigs at small opera houses across the country - beginning with the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.
