Guided hike at Tracy Shore with Coastal Rivers
Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust naturalist Sarah Gladu will lead a hike at Tracy Shore in South Bristol from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 9.
Tracy Shore is owned by the town of South Bristol and managed in partnership with Coastal Rivers. A network of trails winds through coastal spruce forest, past a meandering brook and rocky outcroppings draped with ferns and moss, to a high overlook with sweeping views of the Damariscotta River estuary.
The trail is steep in a few areas, and the surface is uneven with rocks and tree roots to step over.
In addition to looking for signs of spring and wildlife activity, the group will visit a woodland stream and a vernal pool, where wood frogs and spotted salamanders may be active.
This program is free of charge, thanks to member support. Registration is required at coastalrivers.org/events.
Coastal Rivers’ next guided hike will take place at Salt Bay Farm in Damariscotta on May 22.
