July 28, Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Cemetery District trustees voted unanimously for Tim's Tree Service to remove trees at Oceanview Cemetery. The board expressed concerns that tall pines in the area would fall and damage graves, leaving the district liable for repair. They approved a two-day removal service, estimated at $4,000. 

They floated having a large tree removed from Pear Street Cemetery. 

In other business, the district's three-year annuity investment, which earns a 4.7% interest rate, is coming out of surrender. The district pulls interest from both this annuity and a five-year plan every month to support operations. After speaking with Vice President Jean Huber of First Federal Savings' Wiscasset branch, trustees voted unanimously to reinvest the funds in a new five-year annuity; interest rates are about 5.45%.
