BRSAF exceeds annual fundraising campaign goal
The Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund (BRSAF) 2025–2026 Annual Campaign General Fund donations have reached more than $417,000 exceeding our goal of $275,000 and reflecting the continued generosity and commitment of our year-round and seasonal communities in support of Boothbay Region High School graduates.
For the 2025–2026 grant cycle and academic year to date, more than $537,000 has been awarded from the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund to support graduates pursuing education beyond high school—including college, graduate programs, trade schools, and other career pathways.
As the campaign has progressed, the community has been able to follow its momentum in a visible and meaningful way. Many have noticed our new campaign sign near the Boothbay Region High School entrance, installed earlier this February and designed and built by Boothbay Region High School students. The sign continues a long-standing tradition of sharing campaign progress with the community.
That tradition began nearly a decade ago when board member Nick Hurd proposed creating a visible campaign marker on the high school lawn. With the help of contractor Bill Dighton, who generously donated his work, and artist Ella Long, who painted the sign, the original lighthouse structure became a familiar and enduring symbol of community support for local students.
After many seasons weathering Maine winters, the original sign has now been retired and replaced by this new student-built version—carrying the tradition forward in a meaningful and inspiring way.
On behalf of the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund, thank you to all who have contributed—past and present. For more than 61 years, your support has helped open doors and create opportunities for Boothbay Region students.
