Boothbay/Wiscasset boys' track team finishes 2nd at MVC meet
The Boothbay/Wiscasset boys' track and field team is off and running to start this year's spring season. Boothbay/Wiscasset finished second April 28 at a home Mountain Valley Conference meet. Boothbay/Wiscasset scored 172 points in the eight-team meet which was second to Lisbon/Oak Hill's 206. Kents Hill finished third with 126 points.
Three Boothbay/Wiscasset athletes earned six first-place finishes in the meet. Isaac Fanslau won the 100M dash. Ben Gapski was the big winner posting victories in the 110M hurdles, 300M hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. Logan Bourne won the shot put.
In the 100M, Fanslau won with a 11.72 second time. Boothbay/Wiscasset runner Aron Geddes finished fourth with a 12.25 and Lysander Lefevre finished sixth with a 12.56. In the 200M dash, Fanslau finished third with a 24.74 second time. Madison's Anthony Sandoval won with a 21.76. In the 400M dash, Fanslau finished second with a 55.69 second time. Dirigo's William Morris won with a 54.95.
In the 800M dash, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Louie Caidoc finished third running a two-minute, 21.73 second time. Mt. Abram's Trevor Nichols won with a 2:11.97. In the 1600M run, Boothbay/Wiscasset's AJ Crocker finished fourth with a five-minute, 6.54 second time. Ethan Clark finished sixth running a 5:15.15 time. Trevor Nichols of Mt. Abram won with a 4:55.11.
In the 3200M, Crocker finished second with an 11-minute, five-second time. William Morris of Dirigo finished first with a 9:47.
In the 110 M hurdles, Gapski won with a 17.09 second mark. In the long jump, Gapski won with a 18-feet, 8.5 inch leap. He won the triple jump with a 38-feet and one-half inch mark. In the 300M hurdles, Gapski won with a 46.39 second time.
In the high jump, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Chase Carver finsihed fifth with a five-foot leap. Trenton Haskell of Buckfield won with a 5-06.
In the discus, Lefevre finished third with a 96-feet, one-inch throw. Skye Burgoyne of Madison won with a 115-11.
In the shot put, Bourne won with a 36-feet, 8.5-inch throw. Boothbay-Wiscasset's Casey Phelps finished second with a 35-feet, 2.5-inch throw.
In the 4X400M relay, the Boothbay/Wiscasset team of Clark, Caidoc, Geddes and Crocker finished second with a four-minute, 13.3 second time. Lisbon/Oak Hill won with a 4:04.3.
In the javelin, Geddes finished second with a 136-feet, 2-inch throw. Baxter Sloan of Lisbon/Oak Hill won with a 143-03. Boothbay/Wiscasset's Lysander Lefevre finished fourth with a 111-10.
In the mile race walk, Boothbay/Wiscasset took second and third. Ross Gaffney finished second with a seven-minute, 56.66 second mark. Nathan Percival finished thrid with a 9:15.9. Ryan Hanlon of Lisbon/Oak Hill won with a 7:48.19.
