Two singles players and one doubles team advanced past the first round of the Maine State High School Tennis Tournament this past weekend. In Readfield, Boothbay No. 2 boys' doubles team of Avery Fowlie and Elijah Smith defeated the Winthrop duo of Ryder Shardlow and Jack Thaller, 6-1, 6-0.

In girls' singles, Abby Orchard and Izzy Andreson both advanced to the second round. Orchard defeated Breanna Lee of Spruce Mountain, 9-7. Andreason beat Aida Wolf of Winthrop, 8-3; Boothbay's Hannah Kreft was eliminated by Madison's Jade Young, 8-6 in round 1.

In the second round, Andreason and Orchard both lost. Andreason lost, 8-0, to Marta Amores Juan of Hyde. Young defeated Orchard, 8-0.
