Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, in partnership with Tedford Housing will host an informal Community Conversation on Housing in Midcoast Maine. Join us on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. for a conversation about housing conditions across the region.

We’ll discuss what housing instability looks like on the ground and what supports exist locally for people navigating it. This conversation is open to all and is meant to be a discussion, not a presentation, with space for questions and dialogue about volunteerism, policy, and other topics that touch on housing in the region. This program will be led by the staff of Tedford Housing, a Brunswick-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals and families to move from homelessness to home.

In the past, Tedford Housing has led similar community conversations around the Midcoast region including screenings and conversations around Building Hope: Ending Homelessness, a locally produced documentary, and their annual Dinner & Dialogue that focuses on a different topic from the intersections of housing, health, education, food insecurity, and policy changes affecting social safety net programs.

Founded in 1987, Tedford Housing serves 40 towns across the Midcoast region between Portland and Rockland. Tedford is the region's sole provider of emergency shelter services for adults and families experiencing homelessness along this stretch of the coast.

Tedford's work extends beyond emergency shelter to address housing instability at every stage, from preventing homelessness to helping people find and maintain safe, stable housing. Its programs include homelessness prevention and housing stabilization services; emergency shelter; permanent supportive housing for those who have previously experienced homelessness and have ongoing disabilities; a seasonal winter warming center; and Warm Thy Neighbor, an emergency heating assistance program that helps eligible households afford fuel and remain safely housed during Maine's cold winters.
