BHYC High School Sailing program spring launch, open house March 28
The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club’s (BHYC) High School Sailing Program is preparing to return to the water as the spring season approaches, with practices expected to begin in early April, weather permitting.
An open house for interested students and families will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the BHYC Sailing and Education Center, 156 Western Avenue, West Boothbay Harbor. Head Coach Caleb Gray and General Manager Hristo Ivanov will be available to answer questions.
Part of BHYC’s Junior Programs and supported by the BHYC Junior Program Foundation, the team is open to students in grades 7–12 from across the region, including Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Edgecomb, Newcastle, Wiscasset and Damariscotta.
Sailors train locally multiple days per week and compete in the Penobscot Bay League and throughout New England via the New England Schools Sailing Association (NESSA), building racing skills, teamwork, and confidence on the water.
The fee for the spring season is $450, and all boats, dry suits, and equipment are provided by the Club. Fee waivers are available to ensure access for all interested sailors.
