The best of Louisiana arrives to celebrate July Fourth weekend
Serving up a fresh take on traditional Cajun, Creole, zydeco, swamp pop and New Orleans R&B, the group T Marie & Bayou Juju consistently wows audiences and festival goers. On Friday, July 3 this acclaimed band from the southern reaches of Louisiana arrives in Maine to perform high energy regional music at the historic Opera House in Boothbay Harbor.
Moving from acoustic improve to classic fiddle tunes played over the centuries, performing on sweaty dance floors in dive bars to festivals on the majestic banks of the Mississippi River, these Louisiana natives bring a party wherever they go. Their concerts promise a haunting taste of Louisiana past and present, delivering an eclectic mix that the band says often “gets even the most reluctant audience member up on their feet!”
T Marie & Bayou Juju have been included in the list of the Grammy’s Best Regional Roots Music Album, nominated for Offbeat Magazines Best Cajun Album and consistently rank high on Band Camps’ Cajun/Zydeco charts. T Marie is a member of the Recording Academy and an ambassador for Cajun music and culture. Her stories told from the stage mixed with the authentic music of the region, may find audiences thinking they’ve landed squarely in the bayou versus in Boothbay Harbor this July. The band has already sent notice to Maine audiences “Get on your dancing shoes and shrimp boots, and join in.”
The band has shared the stage with Genticorum, Jeffrey Broussard & the Creole Cowboys, the Lost Bayou Ramblers and dozens of others at festivals throughout Louisiana, including the famed French Quarter Fest. They have toured nationally from California to Maine. Their upcoming concert at the Opera House is their only appearance in Maine this year.
