Bayville Buzz
If you are a recently returned snowbird and were glad you missed winter, no you didn’t. Few boats ventured out as the temps dropped - even Pamela remained on her mooring. Speaking of moorings, no, you’re not hallucinating. The Gadaboat - last seen at the bottom of the Bay - has become the marine equivalent of a phoenix. It’s not running quite yet, but at least it’s sitting upright and looking good.
Happy 21st birthday to Elena Purcell, who will be celebrating in Bayville with family this week. If you missed out on getting any of the outstanding Bayville attire Chris Munnell put together, you get a do over as the Bayville store will opens its on-line doors from July 3-7.
For those of you hesitant to buy until you get to check out the threads in person, our own fashion icon, Mr. Phil Roberts, has graciously offered to model the complete catalog during the course of the BIA annual meeting. So bring your check books and your catcalls as $4 goes to the BIA for each item purchased.
For those keeping score (I know I am), Phil pulled off a recent victory over me in our long running practical jokes battle. As a result, there will be a heavy dose of Phil jokes this season. Lucky for me, there is always endless material to choose from.
That high pitched scream you heard on Sunday, was probably me when I took an impromptu swim while paddle boarding. The water was quite cold and George Costanza was right.
Philbert was last seen hanging out on Radiant at the end of last season. There hasn’t been a sighting since and people are beginning to wonder if Captain Craig realizes the responsibilities bestowed upon him. I read a recent column in the Register with amusement as it turns out Philbert has flamingo friends around the corner in Tallwood.
Fire pits will feel a bit different this year as Spence’s life long friend, Jimmy, recently passed. For years, Jimmy has made an annual pilgrimage to Bayville, where he would impart his wisdom and humor to the masses. Like Aristotle or Madonna, one name was enough. RIP Jimmy.
