Dear Editor:

On behalf of Boothbay Region High School’s Student Council, I would like to thank the community for their support of our 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Event.

We would like to especially thank those who willingly shared their words, recollections, and thoughts with us, including: Dr Tricia Campbell (Boothbay Region High School Principal), Glenn Tilton (Boothbay Harbor Fire Chief), Doug Snyder (Boothbay Harbor Police Chief), Kristen Roberts (EMS Chief for Boothbay Region Ambulance Service), and Holly Stover (State Representative). Their various perspectives of the event brought many of us back to that terrible day.

Additionally, a huge thank you goes out to each of the local firemen, EMTs, and police officers who attended and brought their trucks, in a show of respect for the victims of 9/11.

I would also like to thank the community members and parents who came out very early on Friday morning to help the Student Council members install the 2,977 American flags on the hill that were placed to honor each of the 9/11 victims.

A special thank you also goes out to members of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor for allowing us to ring their bells to mark out the 25 years since the attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

I am very proud of Ronan Drage (Student Body President) and the entire BRHS Student Council for their diligence in putting this meaningful program together in such a short time.
