SINGING AND MORE SINGING WITH COASTAL SENIOR COLLEGE

It was Ella Fitzgerald who encouraged the world to sing with her words: “The only thing better than singing is more singing.”

It was the great French chanteuse, Edith Piaf, who said it well for the times in which we now live: “Singing is a way of escaping. It’s another world.”

And, finally, popular composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, crafted his take on singing in seven words: “If I cannot fly, let me sing.”

CSC Board member and frequent instructor, Susan Borg, enthusiastically agrees with all three and is a keen believer in her assurance that “ANY BODY CAN SING.”

So certain IS she that she has titled her monthly FREE EVENT FOR CSC MEMBERS with those very words ”ANY BODY CAN SING” – and, indeed YES, with the unique division of the first word.

Susan goes on to say: “Singing is the birthright of every human being. Some say that language grew out of singing, and that singing began as communication with the sounds of wind and water, birds and other animals. In our world, where we are more and more isolated electronically, singing is our connection to the world around us and to each other.”

ANY BODY CAN SING is a singing community for CSC members which gathers live and in person from 10:00 am to noon on the third Monday of each month at the Mid-coast UU Fellowship Community Hub, 38 Elm Street in Damariscotta.

And the best part? No musical experience is necessary. Experienced singers are warmly welcomed as well as first timers. Your voice is fine exactly as it is.
