We will be gatheringMay 21 at the BICA hall (24 West Side Road) starting at 5:30 p.m. for a soup supper. There will be six soup entrees provided so Wendy and Paul would like you to bring either a side dish or salad or a dessert to share. As always water and coffee will be provided but you are welcome to bring your beverage of choice. If you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer to help host a potluck, please reach out to Kim at 207-350-5993.
After dinner there will be a couple of rounds of Bingo hosted by Paul and Louise. These are always spirited games and word is that there will be prizes.
The evening will also feature the start of the lobster raffle with tickets available at last year’s price--$1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5. Everyone wants to get in on this. The number of lobsters included in the raffle will be announced soon with the winning ticket being drawn at the picnic in August.
Thanks go out to Kim, Gigi and Frosty for hosting the April gathering and remembering where everything was in the kitchen. And thanks to Bill for returning again this year as the ever faithful dishwasher monitor.
And more thanks to Bill, who along with Jack, Bruce, Judy and Mel,got the Hall grounds cleaned up. There are not enough thanks for the road clean-up crew consisting of at least 25 people, including a girlfriend. And all that help was needed as at least 30 bags went to the transfer station. Twenty-three folks had enough energyleft after the clean-up to enjoy some pizza thanks to Sandy and Rob.
Don’t forget that Stanley Sr. and Loriann operate Seacoast Redemption located at 15 Hardwick Road. They will donate the value of your returnable to BICA if you let them know. They are located next to Dolphin Mini Golf. BICA appreciates the generosity of Stanley Sr. and Loriann.
The most important date on the schedule this year is July 5. This is the date for the Better Than A Yard Sale. This has been BICA’s most successful event and is the only fundraiser for the year. The funds raised cover much ofthe expenses that keep BICA going. The dropoff schedule for your items will start Thursday, June 26 and run through July 3 from 9 a.m. to noon.
It is not too early to think about contributing to the Better Than A Yard Sale and spring cleaning is always a good time to start setting aside your no longer needed items to donate. This year only cook books, gardening books, books with a Maine theme or books by a Maine author are requested. As a reminder, clothing, large pieces of furniture or electronics are not accepted. Indoor and outdoor plants will be requested so if you are able to help in that area it would be appreciated. Baked goods will also be needed. The list of wants is not yet complete so keep an eye out for further updates. If you have items ready now but are not able to keep them until the sale, please let Suzanne know as well as directing any questions regarding the sale to her at 207-350-6161 or email sherman5825@roadrunner.com.
