World temperatures are quite stable
Dear Editor:
This is in response to last week’s letter, “Not gaslighting or fraud.” The man-caused global warming rollout got off to a bad start. A data breach and release of internal Emails in 2009, labeled Climategate, indicated scientists were cooking the books and hiding data. Next, in 2011, came Climategate 2.0. To quote from a Forbes Nov. 23, 2011article, “Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2) these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on deliberate manipulation of facts and data.” Similar data, Climategate 3.0, was released in 2023.
Our government’s policy is “all in on global warming.” Like the “scientists” in Climategate they are careful to select data that supports their position. They maintain websites and release reports that exaggerate their findings, for example, the following quote, “Since 2000, 18 of the 19 warmest years have occurred, with 2023 being the hottest year recorded.” Like a crooked business they keep two sets of books, one, heavily promoted, to support massive government programs on global warming and the other, a chamber of secrets, available to only those who look.
The sources in the original article and the rebuttal are the same. These are thousands of properly installed and maintained weather stations in the US and around the world. Records are carefully quality checked before being recorded. If one takes a critical look at just the data, representing tens of thousands of measurements, the average dates of the record highs are 58, 83, and 68 years old. The logical conclusion would be “world temperatures are quite stable."
To find the original data enter the following text in a browser address bar, then select the desired site. Plant maps temperature extremes Maine, WMO records climate extremes 21486, and cool weather state temperature Maine.
