Veggies to Table awarded $5,000 grant
Veggies to Table is honored to announce it has received a $5,000 Nourishment Grant from the Quimby Family Foundation in support of its mission to grow and donate organic produce and flowers to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
The Foundation’s Nourishment Grants prioritize organizations that are cultivating community-centered food systems and working to meet basic needs of communities in dire circumstances. Veggies to Table’s grow-to-donate mission aligns closely with these values.
“We are deeply grateful to the Quimby Family Foundation for their ongoing support and belief in our work,” said Erica Berman, founder and executive director of Veggies to Table. “This funding helps us continue to grow fresh, organic produce for our community, expand access to nourishing meals, and create opportunities for people to reconnect with the soil and one another.”
Veggies to Table has donated 92,956.79 pounds of organic produce and 153,708 flower stems throughout Lincoln County. As the need for local food access grows, this grant helps sustain Veggies to Table’s ongoing efforts to nourish the community not only with healthy food, but also with the joy of flowers—food for the soul.
This grant comes at a critical time, as communities across Maine navigate increasing challenges within the food system. The Quimby Family Foundation’s continued investment reflects a shared commitment to building a more connected and resilient local food network, deepening relationships between people, the food they eat, and the land it’s grown on.
