MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital and the MaineHealth Medical Group announced today that the MaineHealth Urgent Care Boothbay Harbor will be converted to the MaineHealth Walk-In Clinic Boothbay Harbor, sometime in the spring of 2027.

This change is a direct response to Boothbay-area patients who use the Urgent Care Center and pay more for the same-day services than patients who receive care at the Walk-in Clinic in Damariscotta. 

“We recognize the importance of containing the cost of care for our patients,’’ said MHLH President Cindy Wade, RN, BSN, MHA. “There will be no difference in the services currently being provided at the Urgent Care Center today – other than lower cost.” 

Wade said certain models of care allow for higher costs to be charged. In this case, the Urgent Care Center is considered a hospital-based service which comes at a higher price tag than a Walk-in Clinic, which is considered an outpatient service. 

The project is in the initial stages, with workgroups being formed and various needs being identified. The goal is to move the Walk-In Clinic to the ground floor of the John Andrews Building which will undergo a minor renovation. MaineHealth Primary Care, Boothbay Harbor will remain on the top floor.  

“This fully aligns same-day care on both the St. Andrews and Damariscotta campuses,’’ Wade said. “We’re looking forward to having more capacity for patients to get care when they cannot see their provider immediately or do not have a primary care provider.”  

Wade said there are no changes to additionalservices offered at 6 St. Andrews Lane. These include Diagnostic imaging, Point-of-Care Testing and Wellness Rehab services.  

Details on hours of operation and staffing for the Walk-In Clinic have not yet been finalized, Wade said.
