Trevett Column: July 16 potluck and more
Please bring either a main, side dish or salad or a dessert to share to the July 16 potluck at the BICA hall (24 West Side Road) starting at 5:30. As always water and coffee will be provided but you are welcome to bring your beverage of choice. If you have any questions regarding the potluck please reach out to Louise at pandlcowan@hotmail.com.
After dinner you will have an opportunity to hear about upcoming events and the results of the Better Than A Yard Sale as it really was better than one. What a day! The line for entrance to the hall stretched out to Barters Island Road by 7:45. Suzanne did a totally amazing job of organizing everything and she had a really great crew that helped put it all together. And of course a really big thank you to all the folks that donated items for the sale. Kudos to them all.
And there will be an opportunity to play Joan’s trivia game. No studying is necessary but no phones are allowed during the game.
Thanks go out to Irena, Brenda and Judy for hosting the June gathering. As usual, the cooks and bakers provided a great variety of edibles, so no one went away with an empty stomach. And thanks to all those who chipped in to help clean up, especially our faithful dishwasher manager.
After dinner, Lauri, our District Nurse, provided a brief description of her work. Many folks were not aware of her availability or what she did. It was appreciated that she took the time to come to the BICA hall to speak. If you did not attend the potluck, there are some of her handouts at the hall. She is just a phone call away.
Laura and Bucky will again be available at the potluck for lobster raffle tickets--$1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5. Everyone wants to get in on this. The drawing date of August 16 is getting closer so don’t wait to get your tickets. There will be 25 lobsters as the prize and you need not be present to win.
And don’t forget that Stanley Sr. and Loriann operate Seacoast Redemption located at 15 Hardwick Road. They will donate the value of your returnables to BICA if you let them know. They are located next to Dolphin Mini Golf. BICA appreciates the generosity of Stanley Sr. and Loriann.
As a heads up for your calendar, August’s potluck will be a picnic on Saturday, Aug. 16. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by the Barters Island Men’s Grill Team. So good.
