Fourth of July celebration on the Common returns
The Boothbay Common is the place to be between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for some good old fashioned Independence Day family fun this Friday. This Fourth of July celebration, sponsored by the Boothbay Civic Association (BCA), has been a favorite community event for several decades.
The event begins with music by the Boothbay Region Community Band at 11 a.m. At noon, Imij Armstead will sing “The Star Spangled Banner,” A capella.
From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. the music takes on a country / rock ‘n roll vibe with the All That Matters band. No doubt folks will be singing, and maybe even dancing, to favorite tunes.
There will be children’s games, sack races, and the ever popular pie and watermelon eating contests.
And, noted BCA member Rosemary Bourette, the organization-sponsored Handcrafted Arts & Crafts Show will remain at the Common throughout the three-day weekend.
