Thankful for this community
Dear Editor:
On July 7, 2026, my life was turned upside down within 45 minutes. A typical emergency room visit turned into my husband, Matthew, passing away unexpectedly from a kidney infection that turned septic. I was and still am completely in shock thinking I am widowed at 36 with three small children, a new house and only one income to live on.
The next day, after this terrible nightmare that I couldn't wake up from, this wonderful community that I grew up in embraced myself, my children and never let go. I would like to thank everyone that sent messages, cards, food, gift cards, monetary gifts and special presents to Myles, Maci, and Bodie. Thank you to everyone who made phone calls to check on us daily. Thank you to the BIW Family for creating a Go Fund Me and for having a gate collection in Matthew's honor. Matthew loved his co-workers and always spoke highly of them. Thank you for Coastal Maine Popcorn for having a fundraiser at their store. A huge thank you to my employees and clients at my salon, Maci's. My employees kept the business running smoothly during my absence.
It really does take a village and we are very proud to call this village our home! Again, we are overwhelmed for the love that has been shown to us from this community.
Thank you!
Brittany, Myles, Maci and Bodie Tilton
