Elegant cakes, intriguing experiences, and a treasure trove of raffle items await the guests at Lincoln County Historical Association’s annual Preservation Party. The event, which takes place this year on Sunday, Sept. 13, provides vital support for the organization’s mission.

A highlight of the celebration is the spirited auctioneering of experiential items by Kaja Vielleux of Thomaston Place Auction Galleries. This year’s offerings include vacation time at two Maine family camps and a lovely home in Hollywood (California, that is), a colonial-style dinner for eight in the tavern of the historic Pownalborough Court House, a baking class for 4 to 6 people, an airplane ride above Lincoln County for three people, a clutch of repertory theater tickets, a Murder Mystery Dinner Party for eight in a Wiscasset home, and more.

Everyone’s a winner in the Preservation Party auction of cakes. According to tradition, the fast and furious bidding for these treats is followed by an expression of even more generosity when the high bidders share their winning desserts with other guests.

In addition to the auction and dinner, the event will include music, a cash bar, and the chance to explore the colonial-era Court House overlooking the Kennebec River. Guests are encouraged to bring their appetites, curiosity, and generosity. Whether you’re a long-time supporter or attending for the fist time, the Preservation Party is a joyful way to celebrate local history and support its preservation.
