Storybook Ball raises over $40,000 for Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library
Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library's third annual Storybook Ball transported guests into an enchanted forest on Sunday, Aug. 2, as supporters gathered at Boothbay Harbor Country Club for an unforgettable evening inspired by William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." More importantly, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of attendees, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, the event raised $40,100 to support the Library's programs, services, and collections.
The evening welcomed 140 guests, who enjoyed an immersive celebration complete with woodland décor, the music of harpist Rhiannon Skye, a silent auction featuring enticing goods, a gourmet buffet, and plenty of opportunities to support the Library's mission. Guests also embraced the evening's literary theme with elegant attire inspired by Shakespeare's magical comedy, helping transform the venue into a midsummer fairy court.
"This event is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together in support of its library," said Savannah Fields, development manager at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library. "Every ticket purchased, auction bid placed, sponsorship secured, and donation made helps ensure that the Library remains a vibrant, welcoming resource for everyone in our community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this evening such a tremendous success."
Funds raised through Storybook Ball directly support the Library's Annual Fund, which provides nearly 45 percent of Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library's operating budget. These charitable gifts make possible free public access to books, technology, educational programming, museum passes, lifelong learning opportunities, and countless services that benefit residents and visitors throughout the year.
The Library extends heartfelt appreciation to its Storybook Ball sponsors, whose generosity helped make the evening possible.
