Stevens family makes history at Dolphin Mini Golf’s infamous 19th hole
Boothbay Harbor has long been a summer tradition for the Stevens family—but this year, their decades-long vacation ritual turned into local mini golf legend.
In an extraordinary feat of skill, luck, and family camaraderie, three members of the Stevens clan nailed the near-impossible bonus shot on the notorious 19th hole at Dolphin Mini Golf in Boothbay, each winning a free game. The vertical hole—a crowd favorite and known heartbreaker—has crushed the hopes of many. But never before have three people from the same group aced it on the same day.
This marks a first in Dolphin Mini Golf history.
The winning lineup included 83-year-old family patriarch Alan from Vienna, Virginia; Jeff (48) and his son Oliver (13) from Edina, Minnesota; Drew (22) from Springfield, Virginia; Ryan (25) from St. Louis Park, Minnesota; Cameron (26) from Falls Church, Virginia; and Nick (32) with his toddler Campbell (3) from Lyman, South Carolina—a rising mini golf talent in the making.
“We’ve been coming to Dolphin for over 20 years—it’s our favorite mini golf on the East Coast,” said Jeff Stevens. “The 19th hole is always the highlight of our trip. Now it’s legendary.”
For the Stevens family, this annual tournament is more than a game. It’s a competitive, laughter-filled tradition woven into the fabric of their summer retreat, now spanning four generations. Ryan, who previously conquered the 19th hole five years ago, was back in winning form—joined by two more family members in this year’s triumphant trio.
Dolphin Mini Golf, a beloved Boothbay Harbor staple, has seen countless families come and go—but few leave a mark like the Stevens family just did. Their streak is a reminder of the magic that happens when tradition, a little luck, and a whole lot of heart come together.
Congratulations to the Stevens family. We’ll see you—and your free game tickets—next summer.
