Southport selectmen receive email about saltwater intrusion concern
Southport selectmen discussed concerns about potential problems stemming from placing too large a culvert near the beach. During the Oct. 22 meeting, selectmen read an email from Christine Dillman.
The email conveyed concerns about how a large culvert at the beach would create too much saltwater intrusion into local wells, according to Selectman Gerry Gamage.
In other action, selectmen approved two town hall rental requests. Mari Tiwari received approval to hold a Nov. 5 Friends of Southport Historicial Society meeting. Bruce Joule received approval for a July 13, 2026 Southport museum lecture.
Jim Gagnon received appointment as a planning board alternate. Bryan Carroll received appointment as Squirrel Island harbor master.
Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 in the town hall.
