Douglas A. Fowle
Douglas A. Fowle died on Oct. 4 2025, just 11 days shy of his 80th birthday.
Doug loved being outside, hiking, puttering in the yard, cutting wood, and ice skating, but most especially he loved boats and the sea. He was an accomplished boat builder, and some of his work was featured in Wooden Boat magazine and on their calendars. He had several “careers,” but working in the local boat yards was his favorite.
Doug also loved being in boats, be they sail, power, kayaks, canoes, dinghies – even ice boating on Adams Pond in the winter. “There is nothing – absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats,” may have been written in “Wind in the Willows,” but it was written especially for Doug.
He will be missed by his wife Irene, son Matthew and his partner Kat, daughter Kaitlyn, as well as his brothers Ken and Steve along with the many friends who made his life richer.
There will be no organized service for Doug; the family just asks that you remember him when you're outside somewhere beautiful. Donations in his name can be given to your favorite organization.
