Selectmen seek modification of comp plan
Boothbay is looking to modify its 12-year old comprehensive plan. After consulting Planning Board Chairman Bruce Bowler June 10, selectmen reached consensus to have their municipal attorney, Kristin Collins, recommend some new comp plan language.
Bowler told selectmen the comp plan had a "too broad definition" of what is considered a growth area. Selectmen authorized Collins to spend the next few months recommending language changes. Selectmen will then review her work, and decide whether or not to have a public vote in 2027. Town Manager Dan Bryer said any language changes would be ready for the May town meeting.
Bryer reported the June 9 primary elections had over 1,050 voters. He thanked the town staff and election workers for their work. Election workers finished their state primary elections and school budget validation vote by 11 p.m. Bryer added the primary ballots were counted by a tabulator. The school vote was a hand vote.
In other action, selectmen held three public hearings and approved three license renewals. Bluebird Ocean Point Inn on Shore Road received renewals for a hotel liquor Class 1-A license, a special amusement permit (Class C) and an innkeepers license.
Decksz, LLC, doing business as Lobsterman's Wharf, received renewals for a special amusement license. Decksz, LLC, doing business as Ocean Point Marina, received a renewal for a special amusement permit.
Selectmen meet next at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 in the conference room.
