Seahawks down NYA 60-32
Senior Simeon Bates scored 19 points to lead the Boothbay Region Seahawks to a 60-32 win at home over the North Yarmouth Academy Panthers Tuesday night, Jan. 6.
Joining Bates in scoring in double figures were senior Harry Hinckley with 11 and sophomore Chase Licursi with 10.
The Seahawks, who led 36-6 at halftime, were never threatened and coach Dan Hallinan used all his players to gain their third win of the season (3-6). North Yarmouth dropped to 2-7 with the loss.
"It was a great game for us to get back in the win column," said Hallinan. "The kids played hard and had contributions from a lot of the team. The focus is always to continue to work hard and preparing to better ourselves for the next one. I felt we did that tonight."
Top scorers for NYA were Cam Veitch and Daniel Smith with six points each.
The Seahawks next travel to Mt. Abram on Friday, Jan. 9 to face the 7-3 Roadrunners, who are seeded first in Class D South. This is the first of four road games until the Seahawks host Monmouth Academy on Jan. 20.
