The Rev. Catie Scudera will lead the service at Wilson Memorial Chapel on Ocean Point this Sunday, July 19.Margaret McEldowney will serve as organist. The service is at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome!
Since August 2014, Rev. Scudera has served as lead minister of the First Parish in Needham (MA), Unitarian Universalist. During her time at First Parish, she has locally served as president of the Needham Interfaith Clergy Association; member of the Needham Resilience Network; co-organizer for the town’s annual interfaith Trans Day of Remembrance and Needham Has Pride events; and, as a leader in research and repair work for Needham’s colonial history of African enslavement and indigenous displacement (as published in the UUA’s “Widening the Circle of Concern” report). In the wider “UU world,” Rev. Scudera is a member of the Greenfield Group for ministerial study and the board of the Society for the Promotion of Theological Education.
Rev. Scudera is a 2007 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and earned her Master of Divinity in 2012 from Harvard Divinity School. As part of her ministerial training, Rev. Scudera served as the intern minister of Boston’s Arlington Street Church; as the student and summer minister of the Winchester Unitarian Society (MA); andas a student chaplain at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Before responding to her call to ministry, Rev. Scudera co-founded the A. Margaret Barr Children’s Village in Meghalaya (India) with the Unitarian Union of Northeast India, and she worked as a full-time tutor at Boston’s Match Charter Public High School.
Rev. Scudera lives on Dudley Pond in Cochituate, MA, with her spouse Cole Stephenson (a high school social studies teacher), their daughter Sophia (a rising first grader), and their two “senior” rescue dogs Mango and Bishop. Rev. Scudera was introduced to Boothbay Harbor through her sister-in-law’s wedding at Spruce Point Inn in 2019 and visited Wilson Memorial Chapel for the first time during a family summer vacation in 2025. She is thrilled and honored to offer worship at Ocean Point this summer.
