Aug. 13, Boothbay Region Refuse Disposal District (BRRDD) talked about searching for a municipal lawyer. Treasurer Julia Latter said obtaining counsel has, in general, become harder as lawyers have moved away from municipal government work. The board discussed compiling a preliminary list of candidates and relevant questions for BRRDD Operations Manager William Johnson. 

In other business, the board decided to retain its pick shed, likely for use as Giles Rubbish. They previously approved sending the pick shed out to bid, following a decision to close the “pick pile” in November 2025 due to insurance liability concerns. The board also unanimously approved moving $5,000 to a health account.

The Giles Rubbish truck involved in a June 16 accident is back on the road. The truck snapped a utility pole near the intersection of Route 96 and Dodge Road near Smuggler's Cove Inn in East Boothbay, and required $27,000 of repair work.
