Questions about the East Side Park
Dear Editor:
I have some questions about the East Side Waterfront Park.
My goal in writing would be to have someone respond to this letter with information that would help donors and all community members understand where we are and where we are going.
Why is there no park after seven years?
If development has been unsuccessful for this long, wouldn't a change of leadership be in order?
There was a quote from one of the developers that essentially said the park should not be deeded as a park, which would leave it open to commercial development. Wasn't the land purchased with donated money specifically to be a park?
Isn't this park tax free?
Where is the money that was donated to the park and how will the park be sustained in the future?
How much of the donor money have developers spent in legal fees against the town, including appeals?
No one has been forthcoming with a succint explanation regarding the causes of the regrettably long process and a definitive routs and timetable for a successful completion. We would all benefit from more transparency.
