The premise is simple - green space

Dear Editor:
I attended the meeting regarding the waterfront park and visited the site. The premise is simple - green space at harbor’s edge to watch the action and beauty of our location. Examples of similar projects done well are many - Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth and the Camden Harbor Park are two. What they both have in common are benches for quiet enjoyment and green space for playing catch or picnicking. Those parks were not created to generate income; they were created for access.
If the current developers are concerned about the cost to maintain this park, they should create an endowment, not income generating add-ons which ruin the original intent.
