Those on vacation this past week certainly hit the jackpot with the weather. I don't recall a better stretch of weather in July in many years.

Sadly this is the last week of vacation for our July renters as next week the August crowd will arrive.

Once again there were many activities last week. Thank you to Pat and Bob Landurand for once again providing their time and talent to teach dancing. Their classes will continue on Monday evenings for the remainder of the season.

A great crowd gathered Wednesday evening and enjoyed a competitive game of Bunco organized by Donna Logan. Thank you Donna. 

Thank you to Randy Haist for organizing the Pickleball Tournament on Saturday with a number of players participating in the event.

It was a perfect evening this past Saturday for our lobster bake. Thank you to Matt and Kathy Lindley for reintroducing the event after being absent for several years. Many enjoyed feasting on lobsters with all of the fixings; the bake was expertly prepared by Chef Mike Whitney assisted by his wife Jen and daughter Marin.

Team Dawson defeated Team Nichols 6-1 in Sunday’s softball game with many participants and spectators in attendance. Outstanding players included Charlie Gamache and his brother Johnny.

This week's events include a Fused Glass class on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Casino; registration is on the website. 

Liz Dawson will be hosting the third s’mores night Tuesday evening, July 28 at 7 and Wednesday evening Barbara Yahn will host the ice cream social also at 7.

Our coed adult porch party is Thursday evening, July 30 hosted by the Danas and the Ripleys. Please bring your beverage of choice and an appetizer to share, the fun begins at 5:30 until 7.

The ever-popular taco night is happening on Friday evening, July 31 beginning at 6 and chaired by Ginna Yerrall. Purchase your tickets through the website. 

Breakfast will be served on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10 and the featured items are pancakes with sausage and is hosted by Mary and Mike Rush. Come enjoy a delicious breakfast and catch up with neighbors and friends.

Start the new month off by sharpening your tossing skills for the Cornhole tournament on Saturday evening, Aug. 1 organized by Mark and Cara Pond. Sign up is at the Casino and is filling up fast.

Douglas Cornman, chaplain and John Zavodny, president of Maine Seacoast Mission, Northeast Harbor, Maine will conduct morning services at the Wilson Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 9:30. Music will be provided by Castlebay. All are welcome.

Amy Imhof will lead all of the younger people in a game of Left, Right, Center Monday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m.

China McHold will conduct a stress reduction seminar on Tuesday evening at 7. Come learn how to better deal with the stress you may possibly be experiencing. 

The second presentation by the History Committee will be Wednesday, Aug. 5 beginning at 7 p.m. This presentation will feature a continuation of the arrival of residents to Ocean Point in the early 1900s. As you recall, in our first presentation, Lucy Ann Spaulding shared the fascinating history of her family’s arrival at Ocean Point back in the 1800s.

Marilyn and Jack Heise’s family have been enjoying vacation time this month. Their son Bill is here and earlier in the month Marilyn and Jack’s grandson Jackson paid a visit with his girlfriend from Michigan. 

Son Steve and daughter Kathy Benninghoff arrive in early August with Kathy’s son Sam.

Two of Marilyn and Jack’s granddaughters, Lauren from New York and Caroline from Atlanta, visited earlier in the season with their boyfriends who were “wowed” by Ocean Point. How could you possibly not be, right?  

According to the latest forecast much needed rain is expected Wednesday into Thursday so enjoy this glorious weather.
