Nice attendance at the park
Dear Editor:
The 64th Windjammer Days was a great success. With cooperative weather and wonderful turnout, sincere congratulations are owed to the organizers and all who participated. It was heartwarming to see so many people, locals and visitors alike, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The East Side Waterfront Park shared the activity on Wednesday, hosting a wonderful series of events. At noon, the Navy's Jack Tar Brass Band played to a most appreciative audience, many of whom stayed on to watch the Windjammers sail into the harbor. The School Street Band kept the energy going from 5:30 to 8:30, playing favorite pieces from their repertoire, and a fireworks display brought the day to a memorable close.
Boothbay Harbor Waterfront Preservation was proud to welcome all the participants, attendees, and activities that made the day so special. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who joined us — the volunteers, donors, and supporters who help us carry out our mission of providing public access to our beloved harbor and sustaining a working waterfront for the future.
Special thanks are also due to the attendees who so cheerfully helped put away tables and chairs after the fireworks — that kind of community spirit means everything. And we are especially grateful to Cathy Sherrill, Executive Director of the Opera House, for inviting us to be the venue for the Navy's Jack Tar Brass Band.
