Moves for a Mission returns to BHML Aug. 26

12-year-old chess prodigy Raza Patel, a 1900-rated player, of New York City is returning to the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library on Wednesday, Aug. 26 for an Open Chess Social and fundraiser for BHML’s Children’s Library.
Raza’s Moves for a Mission nonprofit charity helps “children in need, one move at a time,” according to the website, https://movesforamission.org/
The BHML event will be held in the library’s garden (or inside if it rains) from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. At 3:45, Raza and BHML staff will give a brief speech, followed by a workshop by Raza from 3:45 to 4:15. The Open Chess Social with mentoring by Raza will be held from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m.
Last year, Raza raised $1,205 for the BHML’s Children’s Library in the inaugural event.
