Mother-daughter concert at BH Opera House June 27
Singer-songwriter Lucy Wainwright Roche is teaming up with her singer-songwriting mother Suzzy Roche and touring together this summer including a stop at the historic Opera House in Boothbay Harbor. The award-winning duo will perform on Saturday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Lucy is the daughter of Loudon Wainwright III, and Suzzy, and grew up in a musical and performing world with her parents and brother Rufus and sister Martha. She has toured with the Indigo Girls, Dar Williams, Girlyman and Amos Lee among others and in 2009 was awarded Best Emerging Artist at Falcon Ridge. Since then she has recorded eight albums and toured internationally.
After a lifetime of performing and recording with The Roches and as a solo performer, these days Suzzy says that “she enjoys singing on the road with her daughter Lucy Wainwright Roche.” Lucy and Suzzy recorded their first CD Fairytale and Myth which won the popular vote for best singer/songwriter album of the year for the Independent Music Awards in 2014. In 2022 Suzzy was the composer for Sarah Ruhl's production of Becky Nurse of Salem at Lincoln Center. She is also an author, and visiting professor teaching performance.
