Monmouth edges Boothbay 43-37

In a battle of two top-eight teams in Class D South, the Monmouth Mustangs held off the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 43-37, in Monmouth Wednesday night, Jan. 21.
Monmouth (6-6) led at every break but Boothbay (5-9) kept it close, trailing by only six points, 29-23, going into the final quarter. The Mustangs’ Kaitlyn Frost did the bulk of the home team’s scoring with a game-high 25 points.
High scorers for Boothbay were Tatum French with 16 points, Eleanor Erwin with nine and Aryana Gray with six.
At press time, Monmouth was seeded fifth and Boothbay seventh in the latest Heal point standings.
The Seahawks are next scheduled to host Mountain Valley (4-8) on Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
