Conveniently located at the town pier and offering a spectacular view of boats cruising through the harbor, the east side business and residential district, the glorious Catholic Church and more, Waterfront Park has provided a peaceful place to view the ocean, gather and meet up with family and friends, or just sit, have lunch, read a newspaper and enjoy the fresh air.
Concerts have been held on the stage built on the north side of the park, including during Windjammer Days, Fourth of July and other special occasions. Restrooms are available next to the road at the park.
Fundraising for the park included selling engraved bricks to be used for the design of the whale and elsewhere in the park. One family bought 40 bricks for each member of the family. Other engraved bricks were added in subsequent years.
