'Land & Sea' show opens with reception July 12
River Arts ’much-anticipated “Land & Sea” show is now on display at the gallery at 36 Elm St. in Damariscotta. Juror Ammi Bai Chung has curated a dynamic collection of works that draw from the diverse and awe-inspiring landscapes of Maine. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Many of the participating artists will be on hand to celebrate the occasion, and visitors are invited to meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments and lively conversation.
This robust exhibition showcases a broad range of interpretations of both land and sea, offering a vivid reflection of Maine’s natural beauty. From serene tide pools and peaceful harbors to wild seas, forest interiors, and expansive skies, “Land & Sea” reveals both the quiet grace and the dramatic energy of nature captured by Maine artists. The exhibition runs through Aug. 16.
Bai Chung says that in curating the show, her intent was to capture a sense of place, representing a love of Maine for the viewer. She chose a breadth of diverse work and mediums that represent and speak of Midcoast Maine in a cohesive and expressive display of art.
Coinciding with the main gallery show, a solo exhibition by Judith Schuppien is currently on display in the River Room. “Treasures of Our Local Land Trusts" is a unique collection of work featuring recent paintings capturing stunning vistas from within eight of Maine’s Land Trusts. Each piece is a tribute to place and preservation. “Treasures of Our Local Land Trusts" runs through July 16.
