Ten teams competed in the 2026 Boothbay Region Lobster Jam girls basketball tournament championships and, after three days of competition, the Freeport Falcons, coached by BRHS alumna Page Brown, defeated the Westbrook Lady Blue Blazes in the championship game July 26.

Boothbay invited seven other teams who played five games over the weekend: Spruce Mountain, Medomak, Maine Premier (club), Oceanside, Lincoln Academy, Winthrop and Oak Hill.

Boothbay lost its first four games, all against Class B schools. The Lady Seahawks have a young squad with several freshmen seeing significant playing time this summer. Freshman Mabel Kaler played in last summer’s tournament as an eighth grader. She is excited about rejoining her teammates playing basketball this summer. "Being with my teammates is really great. We come and play then watch all the other really great games going on this weekend.”

Sophomore Ariana Gray is a returning starter from last year's team, which qualified for the Class D South Regional tournament. Gray is a power forward with a soft scoring touch. Her height also makes her a strong rebounder. In season two, she is looking to rejoin former teammates in forging another successful Lady Seahawk season. "I'm excited for the new season because we are all used to playing together. We have good chemistry and we all click on the court,” she said.

In pool play, Boothbay lost to Medomak, 44-31; Oak Hill, 51-35; Freeport, 46-26; and Spruce Mountain, 62-24.
