Every stick of furnitureat the Community House resembling a table or seatwasdeployed last Saturdayto accommodate the record breaking turnout for the lobsterbake. Set-up crew leader Jim Dilleysaid “Ifitwasn’tnailed down wetookit to the field.” Lobster bakeco-chairsJean Dilley and Cindy Gagneknockedit out of the park managing 240 lobsters, 140 hot dogs, countless boxes of corn, 2 bushels of clams and pounds and pounds of butter and coleslaw. Early afternoon the Community House parking lot turned into a corn shucking arena with many hands making light work. Down by the shore Dick, Sean, Ray, Chris, Fred, Denny, Brian and Austin stayed throughout the day from set up, through cooking, and into the breakdown. Dozens of volunteers melted butter, cooked hot dogs, baked desserts and served the meal. There was even a job category of lobster pot lid holder (fine job, Saul and Celia!)Special thanks to the younger generation - here’s looking at you Millennials - for their willingness to step up and learn the many parts that make a successful bake. We can thank Mother Nature for the beautiful evening, butthe perfectvenue, “Whitten’s Field,”camefrom the generosityof Amy Whitten and Dennis Ryan. Thank you to everyonewhohelped make it a successful event.
