Hooray for Charlotte Nutt
Dear Editor:
Though we are saddened to see our dedicated and talented District 48 Representative Holly Stover leave the field, it is heartwarming that a similarly committed and capable candidate, Charlotte Nutt, has stepped up to succeed Holly as our representative in the State Assembly.
When I first met Charlotte I loved learning that, though she grew up on the Boothbay peninsula, she and her siblings also spent part of their young years sailing the world with her boat builder father and mother, a physician. Having had a similar experience in my own childhood, I know how significant overseas learning can be, not just about other cultures, but, most importantly, about our own unique American experience and how precious it is.
Through her innovative work as a data consultant focusing on creating resilience for Midcoast municipalities, Charlotte has listened to and heard the concerns of community leaders and others in business and local government. She understands first hand the challenges so many face in finding affordable housing, accessing decent health care, securing jobs and creating opportunities for all to work at and contribute to the various enterprises that make our region thrive.
Our democracy will continue to work only when people in office understand and represent the struggles, hopes and dreams of their communities. Charlotte Nutt will do exactly that, following in Holly Stover’s wonderful tradition, as a true public servant to our community.
At a time when so many of the values we hold dear are under threat, it is more important than ever that people with Charlotte’s experience and wisdom are at the table when legislation that will affect us all is created.
We are lucky to have such a fine candidate running to represent us in State Assembly District #48!
