Gingerbread Spectacular live music
The Opera House’s annual holiday Gingerbread Spectacular shows off an array of local talents and not only those of the gingerbread house designers both young and old. Throughout the weekend while viewing the gingerbread houses, visitors can anticipate hearing a roster of live music provided by Deanna Clarkson, Kevin Kiley, Genie O’Connell and Ann Barker as well as other surprise musicians. O’Connell and Barker will perform on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. The timing of other entertainment will not be announced until the opening of the Spectacular, at noon on Dec. 12.
The talented Friends of the Opera House baking crew reports that they will have more than 50 special holiday cakes, as well as cookies and pies available for sale during the spectacular bake sale that coincides with the Gingerbread Spectacular. For visitors who are looking for a lower calorie way to support the non-profit Opera House there will be raffles for gift certificates to Pinkham’s, Back River Bistro and Ports of Italy; as well as handmade items - stained glass by Dick McDonald, a basket from Eventide, and a centerpiece from Harbor Blooms. The Silent Auction includes the opportunity to bid on a cruise for 20 friends about the historic Nellie G.
The Spectacular is open Friday, Dec. 12 from noon-6 p.m. with beer and wine available beginning at 4 p.m. The exhibit reopens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
No tickets are required, free admission for all. Donations to help defray the cost of the weekend are gladly accepted.
